A day in Pre-K

Pre-K keeps play at the center, with more structure. Children practice the routines they’ll meet in kindergarten: group time, taking turns to speak, following two-step directions and working on their own for longer.

Daily schedule

  • 7:00 Arrival and free play

  • 8:30 Breakfast

  • 9:00 Morning meeting and calendar

  • 9:20 Literacy groups

  • 10:00 Math and science centers

  • 10:45 Outdoor play

  • 11:45 Lunch

  • 12:30 Rest or quiet reading

  • 2:00 Snack

  • 2:30 Projects and music

  • 3:30 Outdoor play

  • 4:45 Quiet activities and pickup
